Apple Pay is not secure

Apple have failed to alarm me when unusual transactions have took place on an in app Apple. I have been charged for unauthorised transactions and Apple have neither stopped those transactions or contacted me. The unauthorized charges ranged from small cents and accumulated to a worrying total of 100 euros (in total more than 500 euros). My bank noticed the irregular activity and promptly alerted me. In light of these suspicious transactions, my bank has taken the necessary steps to protect my assets by placing the suspicious transactions on hold and blocking the debit card that was linked to my Apple Pay. I appreciate their swift response in mitigating further potential losses. However, apple really failed me with this, furthermore I believe the support that checked my case not really investigated the case and just declined. I urge Apple to consider implementing preventative measures to detect and halt unusual activities promptly, as in my case, to enhance the security of your platform.

Hello NPAThe,

Apple isn't a bank and neither is Apple Pay. Apple Pay is just a way of paying for purchases via "tap to pay".

If you added your debit card to Apple Wallet and unauthorized charges were made it is your bank's job to report that to you and stop these charges, not Apple. Apple just created the software and framework for your convince and for developers and card issuers to take advantage of for their customers benefit.

You can also setup notifications to be notified whenever there is a charge to your card within Apple Wallet. If you have this on you would've been notified of these charges being made.

Again, it's not on Apple to stop unauthorized charges here, but your bank account which they did. If the unauthorized charges occurred within an app on the App Store you should report this to Apple where they can take actions.

I agree that Apple Pay is not secure. After all the hype I have heard about Apple security, I finally decided to try to use it. I only used it for 3 shopping items. Each time I was hacked and there were repeated attempts to charge my card, even after I reported it and changed the card number. This has freaked me out. Apple said, “we didn’t accept the charge, after we changed the number… but how did that vendor get my number in the first place? Why did they keep charging me?

I guess I will never use Apple Pay again or recommend it to anyone.
