Can I change my iCloud account email?

I've always used my @me address for important official stuff. Recently my info has been compromised by a couple of major hacking events and I can no longer trust anything I get at that address. I really like using iCloud and it would be majorly inconvenient to switch away from it. So I want to change my address. From what I've read on various forums you can't change your primary address. I'm aware that I can use aliases and hidemyemail, but that is no use to me now that my primary has already been stolen.

Apple, can you please help? Hacks happen. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation. Even if I could just disable my @me address that would solve my problem.
