Find My iPhone turn off
Trading in an old phone with a new carrier. I did a complete erase & reset on the device. Did that turn off the Find My IPhone?
to turn off off i have to select the phone and erase iphone and that turns it off?

No. Since you already reset it, you need to log into your account at https://icloud.com/find and remove it from the list of devices.
