Message blocking??

I’m having trouble texting a few of my main contacts for the last week. When I do I get a message back saying unable to send. Message blocking is enabled. How do I get this off so I can text these people? I’ve tried everything I could think of. Thanks

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 16

What you are referring is not Contact Blocking.

Here clearly, you do not have any SMS plan enabled by your carrier. Probably you only have a Data plan on the SIM.

See the pic below. I only have a Data plan with Google Fi. Apple Inc does not provide SMS services.
