Magic keyboard touch id doesn't work without cable

Magic keyboard touch id doesn't work without cable. After unplugging cable it still works for a while, but when mac goes to sleep touchID stops working completely on magic keyboard. It also doesn't work when adding new fingerprints, only works when plugged in directly to my macbook pro M2.

Touch ID on Magic Keyboard Not Working; Logitech Issue? I just received a Macbook Pro 16" (M3 Pro) for work, and I bought a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. When I try to enter my fingerprint, it doesn't recognize it at all. I click on "Add Fingerprint" and the screen comes up, but putting my finger on the sensor on the keyboard does nothing. I have a fingerprint recognized on the Macbook itself, and that works fine. I tried connecting it via USB, I tried it over Bluetooth. I tried turning it off and on again. I tried restarting the Mac. Nothing works. One other thing I noticed is that the moment I first plugged in the USB dongle for my Logitech MX Ergo mouse, it tried to recognize it as a keyboard. Also, when I click the "Change Keyboard Type" button in Keyboard settings, it brings up a screen called "Keyboard Setup Assistance" and says "Your Logitech device cannot be identified and will not be usable until it is identified." But when I go through those steps, it doesn't make any difference.

Touch ID on Magic Keyboard stopped working after updating to Ventura It was working perfectly fine on Monterey and many months ago, after updating to Ventura, it just stopped working properly, unless... it is always wired to the Mac via the lightning cable. I tried everything I found online: deleting it from the bluetooth setting and reconnecting it solves it only temporary, until the Mac goes to sleep. This is a good example of how not always Apple products "just work"! If there is any other solution to make it work again, I'm glat to try. Thank you!

Have seen a few, not many, similar questions regrind the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.

Sometimes switchingOFF the keyboard and then turning back On will jolt it to working.

Still does not work - sometimes the keyboard itself has been defective

In which case >> Make an Appointment at the Apple Genius Bar and have them evaluate the Keyboard.
