iPhone name

I have an iPhone 14 pro max and my iPhones have always been named under “megatron” I’ve noticed over the past few months my phone has been changing the name back to “iphone” and then “iphone(2)”, “iphone(3)” and now “iphone(4)” has anyone ever had this issue even after changing the name back to the original name. Has anyone seen this be an issue after a software update? Each time it has been changed to iPhone I have changed it back to “megatron” but it continues to be an issue.

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16

I work for a telecom company that has a pretty high security installed on staff devices to be able to use work apps and prevent anything from accessing customer information. The only devices my Apple ID is currently logged in on is my iPhone, watch and iPad and I don’t allow anyone to access my passwords or my device. I never had the issue on my iPhone 13, 14, XR, or XS however those devices have been factory reset and removed from my Apple ID and I still have them in my possession so I don’t believe it would be someone else with access to my log in or devices. Just thought it was a bit of a weird one and curious if anyone has seen it after a software update or even a network reset as I do them every so often to prevent my phone automatically reconnecting to a public or other wifi that is not my home or work wifi connection.

If you feel an unauthorized person/app is remotely using, controlling or monitoring your device, then that is possible only if you have done one or more of the following Don'ts...

  1. Don't hand over an iPhone to kids or to a stranger without Enabling Guided Access
  2. Don't share Apple IDs
  3. Don't Jailbreak
  4. Don't share sensitive information pertaining to your device
  5. Don't give in to Phishing
  6. Don't plug in your device in Airports and Public places through third-party cables and trust the device. Beware of Juice Jacking. (Especially in India)
  7. Don't leave your iPhone unlocked and unattended in public places like offices, schools, malls, etc.

If one of the above is true then quickly change the Apple ID Password and Return iPhone settings to their defaults.

Updating iOS on your iPhone should not change your personal details. iOS updates primarily focus on improving system performance, introducing new features, fixing bugs, and enhancing security. They are designed to preserve your personal data, settings, and information intact.

During an iOS update, your device's operating system is upgraded, but your personal data, such as contacts, photos, messages, and other information, should remain unchanged. However, it's always a good practice to perform a backup of your device before any major update to ensure that your data is safely stored.

It's important to note that while an iOS update itself should not alter personal details, it's possible that certain features or settings may be adjusted or improved with the update. In such cases, you may need to review and adjust specific settings to match your preferences after the update.

Always make sure to read and understand the update details provided by Apple before proceeding with an iOS update, and follow best practices such as backing up your device to minimize any potential risks or complications.

I am aware of how an update is meant to work but I am also aware that not every update released will be perfect and have some glitches. I do also perform a backup every few weeks as well to ensure I don’t loose any of my data

Of course the name changing, although slightly annoying, is not a major issue. I was just curious as to whether or not anyone else had experienced this or if it had been a known problem with a simple fix that I had not heard of before.
