My iPhone 13 Pro is locked with a deleted Apple ID account still signed in. Could I trade it in to buy a new iPhone?

What do I do with my iPhone 13 activation lock problem that cannot be fixed even by Apple Support? Just live with it? Give away? Could I trade it in to buy a new iPhone?

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 16

Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Do this online at: Activation Lock support request - https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says, "Proof of ownership documentation is required," but does not detail what currently constitutes proof. Prior to this new online service Apple typically required the original receipt issued by Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller and documented provenance (so typically it would be the original owner who does this, or a descendant with legal proof of ownership). This will give you access to the device but won't restore access to the account used to lock it.

What I don't know is if Amazon is an official Apple vendor, or if you also bought it from a third party offering devices on Amazon. If it was not a receipt/invoice linked officially to Apple then Apple may not recognize it. Those "not at this time" messages are unfortunately a bit vague and it could be "not until at this or any other time until you present an official receipt."

I bought iPhone 13 Pro from Amazon & I got the invoice for the purchase. Amazon does not issue a receipt. Apple Support advised me to put Serial No. or MEID on the invoice. I did & Apple Support replied later in their email that they cannot process my activation lock support request at this time. I think Apple Support has no solution yet to activation lock caused by deleted Apple ID in the setting that was not signed out before the deletion & cannot be signed out after because there is no more record of the iD.
