apparently, i have a 4-digit passcode for allowing changes on iPhone to passcode and account. I know my 6 digit main passcode, but none of my expected 4 digit codes are working. i don't want to get locked out. Any way to retrieve/change it? i know my apple id passcode. (this all happened when i was turning off face id for security purposes. the irony!) thx

That sounds a bit like a ScreenTime password.
If so, and you didn’t set it, check with others who might have. (e.g. Family Organizer, Employer … )
