Macbook 16" 2019 Boosted Super Slow Post Ventura Update

Should be using Sonoma for the best performance. I have the same Mac and no issues with slow performance. Also make sure you are not using:

• Cleaners
• Optimizers
• AnitVirus
• VPN

With those removed, then post the free EtreCheck report here using the Additional Text option when posting. This will show other programs that are running on startup that could be taking away valuable CPU cycles or conflicting with the OS. It will also show what processes that may be slowing down your machine. There is no personal information included in the report and it was developed by a fellow user here to provide a snapshot of your system to be used to diagnose problems.

To trouble shoot further you can:

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc., third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test.

a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account. 

unplug all non-essential third party peripherals to test

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

I bet you transferred only intel hackies and plug-ins installed and eating cycles and memory! That is very reason why I always recommends that you use of Universal applications ands pure cycle applications! The older Intel hacks/applications run but badly an are not allowed in new Mac OS!

I am having the same problem with my 2020 16" mbp. Takes a very long time to boot any Adobe product, my VPN, even email. This did not happen prior to updating to Ventura. I have heard lagging is even worse with the next upgrade. I'm not maxed out on storage. Maybe these upgrades don't work well on the Intel macs which would really be a bummer since we all know how "affordable" these systems are...

The below will apply to computers that are Apple Silicon M1 / M2/ M3 and interfacing with Rosetta2

Intel based computers do not interface with Rosetta 2

There are three categories / types of software that can run on the Operations System.

Only Intel Binary Code. This software will invoke Rosetta 2 to translate the Intel binaries so the operating system can understand and execute the Application. The Applications must be 64 Bit to function on Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura / Sonoma

Universal Binary Software.  It contains Both Intel and M1/ M2 / M3 ARMs binary code and refer to (  Universal 2 ) When the user installs a 64 bit Application that contains Both Intel and M1 / M2/ M3  ARMs binaries - depending on factors, the Operating System may or may not invoke Rosetta 2.

That would make perfect sense since. It is specifically designed to operate only on Apple Silicon M1 / M2 / M3 ARMs based computers
