Turn off saving attachment when texting to Lower storage use

Is there a way to stop my phone from saving the attachments in my texts. Apparently with every text of a pic, meme, gif or voice recording it saves it. Then when storage is near full I have to delete each one…individually! This is wasting storage space. Can I turn this off?

Can't see "review large attachments" for Messages in iOS 16.2 on iPhone 13 All the help articles and discussions say "Settings" "general" "iphone storage" "messages" and then there will be an option "review large attachments" It simply does not exist. How do I enable this?

Auto delete old convos; does this delete attachments? I have the age old issue of running out of storage space on my iPhone. I would like to select the option to automatically "delete text messages over 1 year old". Does this also delete old attachments as well? I assume so, but would like any other opinions/answers. I was prepared to go through and save any photos people have sent me in the past if they mean anything, but wanted to make sure I need to do that. Thanks!

No, your iPhone does not have the capability to remove the attachments from message threads with the use of multiple selections. I, therefore, recommend that you provide a product feedback here 👉 Product Feedback - Apple
