Any way to disable an automatic bluetooth connection to a speaker?

Hello, I have a speaker that I connect to my iPad, however my MacBook Air constantly "hijacks" it, I use the computer more often and bluetooth a keyboard, and the speaker keeps autoconnecting to the Macbook, which I then have to turn off first in order to play music from my iPad. Other that "forgetting" the speaker on the MacBook, is there any way to prevent this? Thanks!
