I am trying to connect my Mac Mini to my Dell monitor.

I am trying to connect my Mac Mini 2020 to my Dell AS501 monitor. I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter and am still not getting display. Is the Mac Mini 2020 just not compatible with the Dell monitor AS501, or am I missing something?
