I have recently switched to MacBook from windows. In my windows I was able to connect monitor with HDMI port as input to laptop and DVI to monitor. How can I connect the same monitor with macbook pro?

HDMI can be easily converted to DVI up to 1920 wide (but NOT wider) with an inexpensive and simple (just wires) adapter, readily available. You just need to pay attention to get the direction and the cables and connector sexes correct.
MacBook pro 14-in 2023 model has an HDMI port on the right side, toward the back.
As WheelieNick suggested, you can alternatively connect with a more complex adapter directly from USB-C to DVI.
You will need to use an usb c to HDMI cable if your monitor has an HDMI port.
If it only has DVI/VGA, it will become more difficult as those connections are old. You can try an usb C to DVI adapter but no guarantee that it will work
