Iphone 14 stuck on verifying update with screen lovked

Hello,

iPhone 14 is stuck on verifying update. The screen is locked from being unused last night. We I have tried to force it to restart by holding volume then side button but the apple logo doesn’t appear, it wants to ring emergency services.

It has now lost the background photo & is a black background with the slide to power off showing but unable to slide as the screen is locked or unresponsive from the verifying update wheel.

Unfortunately its fully charged to 100 so isnt going to turn off any time soon.

Any ideas would be great.

We can help you get your iPhone up to date! It sounds like you're in a tricky situation so we would recommend following the information we'll share below which we believe will help you get this resolved. We're going to start by advising that you reboot your iPhone and see if the update was able to finish.


You mentioned force restarting your iPhone, but if you were seeing the emergency services screen then it's possible you may have had the incorrect buttons pressed down. With that in mind, we want to recommend that you give that another try being sure to follow the steps here carefully: If your iPhone won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support


If your iPhone is able to reboot, check Settings > General > Software Update to see if you have any updates available. If you do, let's follow the steps here to try and get that installed one more time: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. Be sure to leave your iPhone connected to power and Wi-Fi while it's updating, just to be extra safe.
