MacBook Pro's fan gets loud and hot

A couple of times my fan has started to make a loud sound and the computer has got quite hot.

One time it closed down altogether and restarted.

When I look under "Fan Control" in Settings,I get a message:

"Settings Error.

Could not load Fan Control settings pane".

Does anyone know what this means and what I should do?

Thanks,

Nick.

If it is a third party fan control I would uninstall it.

For an Intel Mac you can try resetting the system management Controller

resetting the SMC —Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

in general Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus/VPN

all known to cause issues on the macOS

if you are still having an issue—

you can get a good look at your User/System config. and reveal conflicts or issues, you can download/run this trusted utility https://etrecheck.com
