Apple TV app - unable to control volume within app!

Why oh why, doesn't Apple allow you to control the volume of Apple TV within the app like other main streamers? I watch Apple TV on a LG nano cell TV with the TV volume on maximum but the sound of Apple TV programs is painfully low so I have to use subtitles to follow a program spoiling the enjoyment.

Unless Apple fixes this I am going to cancel my subscription.
