I have a 15.6" HP Elite Display that looks like an iPad. It only connects to computer using its provided USB-C Cable. Works perfectly on my Intel MacBook Air. Just got an iMac 24 M1 and I get a USB-C error message. My guess is I need a different USB-C cable. Do you know which one? Thanks.
Make sure you're using one of the Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports on the iMac. Those are the display outputs.

Is this the only external display that you are using on the M1 iMac? (The M1 iMac supports a single external display.)
Do you have a link to a HP Web page for this 15.6" HP Elite Display (which I'm assuming is a portable monitor – not a convertible Windows PC)?
What USB-C error message do you get?
When I connect to iMac M1, message is: USB-C: Inactive. Input Signal not found. Only external display trying to use. Display works fine with MacBook. The USB-C cable is the cable that came with display that I got about 3-4 years ago. Thanks.
