Block phone number from Recents

Pressing the info button next to a phone number in the Recents listing is supposed to include a block call option if one “scrolls down.” On my iPhone 11, running IOS 16.3.1, this list does not scroll and there is no block caller option in the displayed list. I can only block the call by adding it to my contact list, perhaps with a name like “Annoying Caller From Manchester” and then going to my contacts list to block the contact. This is stupid. Why doesn’t the info button next to a recent call allow me to block it?

Was able to solve the passcode failure problem (entered passcode for other device) and then updated to 16.5. Info button in recents now provides option to block call. Problem solved. Thanks for the help.

Can you update your iPhone 11 to iOS 16.5? I am using iOS 16.5 and I have no issues getting to the Block This Caller option from the Recents list.

I have Automatic Updates set to On, so I guess this isn’t working. When I clicked on Software Update, I got an error “Unable to check for update.” No idea why that is happening or how long it has been happening. I take it that 16.5 contains some sort of fix for the problem I asked about?

Not that I am aware of, and I haven't had any problems, but you may want to consult If your iPhone or iPad won't update for some troubleshooting steps. Another resource is Software Update Problem: Unable to check for update. An error occurred while checking for a software update, how to fix.

OK…Was finally able to check for updates and saw IOS 16.5 listed. I tried to install it manually and was asked to enter my passcode. My six-digit passcode (which I’ve never changed since I had it) gets an “invalid passcode” error. Tried one more time and got same error. Not good, since trying to set a new passcode looks to be a royal pain. I have no idea why automatic updates and passcode no longer work.
