Suppress page 1 in pages for MacOS

I am using a MacBook Pro, and running the latest version of Monterey OS.


How do I suppress page numbering on page 1?

Here are two examples:


In the first, I have created a second page by inserting a Page break at the end of the text on "Page 1".

This places the insertion point on the second page, where text will be displayed as it is entered.


Clicking the format brush to open the Format Inspector, then clicking Section brings up the menu shown in the image below:


Clicking Hide on first page of section hides the header containing the number for page 1.

"Match…" and "Continue from…" settings are default settings.


Close inspection of the header on the second page shows that although Page numbering starts on Page 1, its display is suppressed (hidden) on the first page.



Replacing the Page Break at the end of text on Page 1, and replacing it with a Section Break allows you to 'restart' page numbering at 1 on the first page of the new section.



Those are the basics. Do some experimenting to see what results come from changing the Section settings, then post any further questions as replies in this thread.
