MacBook Pro dropping network connection every few hours, requires reboot or waiting ~10min

Hi all,

I have a MacBook Pro, 16" 2021, M1 32GB on Ventura 13.3.1.

About 2-3 times per day, the MacBook will lose its ability to reach the network (both local network and internet).

Important points:

  • This happens with both wired and WiFi connections.
  • Other devices on the network are fine: only this Mac is affected.

The only things I can do to recover are:

  • Wait about 5-15min, or
  • Reboot

During the outages, I have tried the following with no luck:

  • Switching WiFi networks, or switching between WiFi and wired.
  • Disabling and re-enabling the network service in the Network Setting window.
  • Restarting the network device with `sudo ifconfig en0 down && sudo ifconfig en0 up`

If anyone has any ideas or diagnostics I can run during the outages to understand what's going on, that'd be much appreciated! :)

Have you tried to boot the Mac in the safe mode to see if the problem persists? If it persists, it is not caused by an external piece of software. If it doesn't persist, it is caused by and external piece of software

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Also you can try to update to Ventura 13.4 to see if the problem is persisting
