I-Pod not advancing to next song

My I-Pod 7th generation plays the same song over & over it does not automatically play the next song. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Greetings NanaT218.

If your iPod 7th generation is not advancing to the next song automatically and keeps repeating the same song, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Repeat settings: Make sure the Repeat function is turned off. On your iPod, go to the Now Playing screen, tap on the album artwork, and check if the Repeat icon (two arrows in a loop) is highlighted. If it is, tap on it to disable repeat mode.
  2. Restart your iPod: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve temporary software glitches. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the power off slider appears. Slide the slider to turn off your iPod, then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until the Apple logo appears to restart it.
  3. Update your iPod's software: Ensure that your iPod is running the latest software version. Connect your iPod to a Wi-Fi network and go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for any available updates. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
  4. Reset settings: Resetting the settings on your iPod can help resolve certain issues. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Keep in mind that this will reset all your settings to their factory defaults, but your data and media will remain intact.
  5. Restore your iPod: If the above steps didn't resolve the issue, you can try restoring your iPod using iTunes on your computer. Connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes, select your iPod, and click on the "Restore iPod" option. This will erase all data on your iPod, so make sure to back up your important content beforehand.

If none of these steps resolve the problem, it's recommended to contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or suggest hardware repairs if necessary.

Hope the iPod is playing a variety of tunes again,

DX-7

I'd go for the first point made by DX-7, turn off the Repeat function.

Typically, each time you tap an iPod's Repeat icon, it steps through to the next mode, as follows:

    • Off - songs play one after another
    • Repeat - when the current playlist (or list of any form) finishes, the complete list plays again
    • Repeat 1 - when the current song finishes, it plays again
    • Off - Repeat is off

Look at the Repeat icon (I think it's two arrows, each pointing to the end of the other one): if there is a small 1 in the arrows, then your iPod is in Repeat 1 mode, which will cause the same song to play over and over. Tap the icon to turn off the Repeat function.

If your iPod is in Repeat 1 mode, then restarting your iPod will not turn it off.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question & providing addition info; it was very helpful. I had trouble finding the Repeat icon but when I tapped the title of a song 4 icons appeared & the 3rd icon was the Repeat icon (2 arrows in loop) & I was able to tap it to turn it off. Now I can use my I-Pod & listen to my songs while in bed to help me fall asleep.

Thanks again!
