Blocked Sender - Move to Trash is not working.

Within iOS 16.4.1(a) Mail has stopped moving messages from blocked senders to trash. The other threads on this topic are closed and Apple’s recommended answers is making a really bad assumption.

Mail is correctly identifying and marking messages as being from “Blocked Sender”. Yet these messages are remaining in my inbox. I checked the system settings and I have “Move to Trash” selected under the Blocked Sender menu.

mice seen other threads suggesting minor variables in the senders email address may be circumventing the system. This is the bad assumption. Mail is correctly marking these messages as coming from a sender that I have blocked. The first part of the rule/process has been met. Yet the action that should follow is not occurring. I am attempting to toggle the “Move to Trash” off and then on again to see if that causes the bug to resolve.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to send the blocked messages to the trash? What is the ( swear) point of marking it as blocked? I'd actually rather not have that option which offers a glimmer of hope to not have to see these. I'm going to stop wasting my time marking them as blocked since it doesn't work. I've tried the things suggested in these forums and nothing, to date, has worked. In they come with their little red circle.
