SD card reader not working

The card reader of my MacBook (M1 Max 2021, 16") has never worked. I hoped it finally would be fixed after installing Ventura, but no, nothing. Doesn't mount any card, also not in Disk utility.

Does anyone have any idea why and how to fix this?

Macbook Pro M1 card reader not working at all Hi! Since i got my Macbook Pro (16-inch, 2021) M1 Max, about a year ago, the card reader hasn't been working at all. It doesn't recognize/mount/read any card. Whenever i connect a simple external card reader they all work fine, so it's definitely a problem with the card reader and not with the cards. Also disk utility doesn't see them. I would like to be able to use the internal reader though. Does anybody know a solution? I'm using Monterey 12.6, would a new OS help? Thanks & cheers, mark

SD card not working properly After restarting my MacBook Pro, the SD card reader functions properly and reads the initially inserted card. However, if I remove and reinsert the same card, it fails to be recognized by Finder or Disk Utility. This recurring issue is highly inconvenient, as it necessitates rebooting the MacBook each time I need to use an SD card, yet a solution remains elusive despite online searches.

I agree and also never understood why it was implemented. But since it is, it's frustrating that it doesn't work.

Btw, i read somewhere that the reader might work when inserting a card before start up. And indeed it does, so it's definitely not a hardware but a software problem.

I despise the things. Your problem is why we went with a pair of 250GB portable SSDs for data transfer.

Reinsert it ... several times.

Wiggle in in the slot ... a lot

Play with how rapidly or slowly you insert it.
