"Show notifications" has disappeared in bluetooth menu for Subaru car infotainment

I have an iPhone 11, running iOS 16.4.1, and have been using bluetooth connection with my 2019 Subaru Impreza without issue since I bought the car in summer of 2019. However, I have noticed ever since the most recent update (approx 2 months ago), my Message notifications were no longer showing up in the car's infotainment screen. Having read other threads and seeing that the common recommendation is to delete the pairing on both devices, then reconnect, that is exactly what I tried. I also made sure to reboot both the phone and the car infotainment. Unfortunately, while music playback and phone address books work without issue, I am still not getting Message notifications on the car's screen. When I check the bluetooth menu on my iPhone, the toggle option for "show notifications" is missing. Given that this feature was previously working without issue before, it's pretty disappointing. I'm just curious to see if anyone else has been having similar issues with the missing "show notifications" option for their car bluetooth connections.

P.S. Apple carplay still works fine, however I don't always want to physically plug my phone in while driving. My main issue is that a feature that was previously working fine no longer is doing so.

To everyone who has replied to/followed this post, I just wanted to give an update. I have fixed the problem, but it's not a free fix. Turns out that my infotainment software/firmware version was pretty old and there had been several updates from Subaru. While I was in for some routine maintenance, I had the shop update the software, which cost around $140 here in Alberta, Canada. In all honesty though, it was worth it. Not only has all the message notification stuff started working again (the "show notification" toggle button in my iPhone bluetooth menu reappeared too), there were several other quality-of-life improvements, like no longer getting occasional music audio hiccups while playing via Apple Carplay, and bluetooth connection no longer dropping while in reverse and the backup camera on.
