Home kit went blank

I'm not sure if it was after an update but about two weeks ago HomeKit on my wife's iPhone and iPad went blank. This is after it working for years. I tried to invite my wife to our shared home again using my iPad thinking this is the way to resolve this problem. I sent the invitation to two different emails and she never received the invitations on any of her email accounts. I'm not sure what to do to get her HomeKit up and running again. Any ideas on what to try next? Thanks in advance.

Where did you find that option in your iPad settings? We are having the same issue and my husbands iPad doesn’t have anything called “home” within settings

Have you updated any or all of your iPad and iPhone devices to iPadOS 16.x? Similarly, have you updated whatever device is acting as the HomeKit Hub to the new HomeKit architecture?

Be aware that with introduction of the new HomeKit architecture, an iPad cannot now act as a HomeKit Hub; hub functionality is now provided by an AppleTV box or an Apple HomePod.

Home app - Apple

Thanks for your reply. All iPads, iPhones, HomePod mini and Apple TV4k have up to date software. The Apple TV says it is connected as a Home hub. The Home app on my iPad says it has 5 hubs and bridges. The bridge is for the Eufy cameras. There is an old Apple TV that is rarely used listed as disabled. The HomePod mini says connected. The last two say stand by and that is this iPad and the Apple TV4k. So I’m guessing I need the Home app to connect to the Apple TV4k as a hub? Also the Home app on my iPad still lists my wife’s invitation to the Home as pending. She is not getting the invitation in her email. Do you have any other fixes I can try? Thank you very much.

Okay the problem is solved. The answer was to go to the iPad settings/Home, not the settings in the Home app, and deselect “use this iPad” as a home hub. Once I did that the Home app was able to update to the new architecture and the Apple TV was now the new home hub. Once the update completed the invitation to the Home was available on my wife’s iPad and all is now working again. Thank you for all your help.
