MacBook Air Trackpad Doesn't Click

Trackpad stopped clicking immediately after the laptop fell to the floor from a table. Since then I can only double tap instead of clicking. Trackpad only moves down slightly when the bottom corners are pressed but nowhere else. I recently replaced the battery and the trackpad still doesn't click. Looked through the trackpad settings and found nothing unusual. What else can I try to fix it?

I don’t have insurance and the Genius Bar wouldn’t do anything. I was told there’s some slight water damage on the mother board and it may need to be replaced to fix the trackpad. I’m pretty sure it’s just caused by the laptop falling to the floor. It feels like something got beneath the pad preventing it from being pressed down. I’m sure no repair shop would look at it without charging me.

Well that's the consequence for letting the machine fall down. Save for the repair, and just get a quote.

AppleCare+ does have minimal insurance available for a couple accidents but must be purchased at time of buying a Mac.

There are several third party insurance companies as well as insurance for computers as a rider on many homeowner renter policies, but they need to be purchased in advance of the event happening.
