Home Kit & Schlage Encode Plus Lock

I just installed a new Schlage Encode Plus lock. I added the lock to my Home Kit and can open the lock by tapping the phone on the lock. I was trying to add the lock to my wife's iPhone and it wouldn't work. I was working on the setup again and received a message that the accessory was already added. Problem is, I can't see it or access the settings.

I had an issue which the HomeKey originally working for about two weeks with my HomeKey on iPhone and my Apple Watch. Then it stopped working. The yellow light would flash on the lock with my iPhone and Apple Watch but it would not unlock the door. Everything else (Apple Home App Unlock, Schlage Unlock, Door Codes) worked fine. The fix for me was to first remove the lock from Apple Home. This will automatically remove the Encode Plus from the Schlage App and it will also remove the Homekey from the Apple Wallet. I confirmed this before moving on. Then I did a full reset the Schlage Encode Plus by holding the round black reset button on the back of the lock for about 60 seconds (Blue, Flashing Red, Blank, Solid Blue). I put in one of the original 4 digit codes listed on the back which does the initial configuration on the lock. I then pressed once the round black reset button till the blue light on the back came on. I then re-added the lock to Apple Home (Add Accessory, More Options, Select the "Encode Lock", go through the wizard and turn on Express Mode. The lock will automatically be added to the Schlage App and you will see the Homekey in your Apple Wallet. Now everything is working again. Hope this helps.

If your accessories still aren't responding in the Home app, restart your devices: Unplug your modem and router, then plug them back into power. Unplug any third-party bridges and all home hubs (HomePod, HomePod mini, and Apple TV), then plug them back into power. Restart accessories that aren't responding.

If your HomeKit or Matter accessory isn't responding in the ...

Just walked through this with the Schlage customer support rep.

To get the firmware update to actually succeed, go into the Schlage app and delete the connection to Wifi. Then initiate the firmware update from the Schlage app. The update will now proceed via Bluetooth and not Wifi. It will take 20 minutes or more, very painful. Once it completes, add back the Wifi connection. The lock should come back working normally in the Schlage app. Then add it to HomeKit.

Schlage has released a firmware update (version 1.7.3) that is intended to address the compatibility issues with Apple HomeKit. If you have a Schlage Encode Plus Lock and are experiencing issues with HomeKit, it is recommended that you update the lock's firmware to the latest version.

To update the firmware, you will need to use the Schlage Home app on your smartphone. The app will guide you through the process of updating the lock's firmware. Once the firmware is updated, you should be able to set up the lock with HomeKit and use it without any issues.

It's worth noting that compatibility issues can also arise due to various factors, such as outdated software, network issues, or device incompatibility. If you continue to experience issues with your Schlage Encode Plus Lock and HomeKit after updating the firmware, you may want to contact Schlage customer support for further assistance.

Thanks for the replies

According to the Schlage app it says my lock is using the latest firmware version which is only 1.0.333428. It doesn’t appear that I can update the firmware from the app.

Latest development is that HomeKit is not recognizing my lock when I’m not in the house. The Schlage app will still control the lock. I’ve read that using both Schlage and HomeKit can cause battery drain on the lock since it is communicating with 2 platforms all the time. Would like to get HomeKit resolved and delete the Schlage app. My goal is to use the quick access feature with all of our iPhones and Apple Watches.

I’m running 16.1.2 on my iPhone. I can’t tell which version of Home is on my phone and I don’t see anywhere in the Home app to force an update. Home>Home Settings doesn’t offer an update. I’m running an update on the iPhone but it looks like it’s only adding some emojis. I looked at my wife’s app and I don’t see where I can update it on her phone either.

Thanks.

Hello

irecently purchased this lock. I was an,e to see it in Home but wasn’t able get a home key for the phone or watch.

i wasn’t about to reset my phone or watch, I would return the lock before doing that.

after countless times of setting up the lock from scratch I decided to try something different.

i set the lock up with Bluetooth, paired my phone with it.

after that, went into the schlage settings and set up the wifi.

Did the works with procedure and the home key appeared. The watch then displayed the home key as well.

good luck, hopefully this works for you
