Emails in contact list going into junk folder

using Mac book pro 2019, running Ventura 13.3.1. Even though I have email address in my contact it keeps getting put in the junk folder. And I DO have exception checked (not to put in junk folder if in my contacts)

Mac Pro (2019)

I'm using Mail on a MacBook Air running OS Monterey. I have several filters ("rules") set up in Mail on my Mac and they have been working reliably for years. Recently (last week or so) any mail that I send to myself is being intercepted by Mail and sent to "Junk." I can see the emails in my "All Sent" folder on my Mac but they don't make it back to my Mac to be processed by my locally-defined rules. I needed to go to iCloud Mail in my browser to find them (and then, yes, direct them to my inBox).

Clearly, I am in my own Contacts list. The sending and receiving email addresses are literally the same. Why is this suddenly happening and how can I fix it? Does my move of the 'discovered' emails from Junk to my inBox fix this going forward?

Thanks for reaching out skelly1256,

It sounds like you're having important emails from a contact flagged repeatedly as junk. We can help.

A great place to start is with these steps If junk mail filters aren’t working in Mail on Mac:

If emails are incorrectly marked as junk

There are several ways you can prevent Mail from incorrectly marking legitimate messages as junk.
* Tell Mail that a message is legitimate. In the banner of the message, click Move to Inbox, or select the message, then click the Not Junk button  in the Mail toolbar (or use the Touch Bar).
* Add the sender to the Contacts app. See Use information found in Mail in other apps.
* Review your Junk Mail settings, as well as any rules you might have created to handle junk mail, and make changes as necessary.

Hope that helps.

Take care.
