Son Cannot Access his Apple Cash

My son received an Apple gift card which he uploaded to his account through the app store. He has tried to make in app purchases but cannot access the funds. He can select apple pay but it won't let him continue to finalize a purchase. We have family sharing - I have read that he can't use it because of this and then read a post saying he can. I have enabled everything on my end as the family organizer. I don't know what else to do?

Can he send me the money and then I an fund him using credit card instead?

Please note that Apple Gift Cards are not visible in the Wallet app.

Apple gift cards can only be used for the following:

Mac

iPhone

iPad

Apple Watch

Accessories

App Store (In App Purchases, buying an app etc.)

Music

Apple TV+

Apple Arcade

iTunes Store

If your son is trying to use his Apple Gift Card for something else it will not work.

Also that an Apple Gift Card does not add a balance to his Apple Cash

Hello! I am sorry your son has problems accessing his Apple Gift Card funds.

First, open the App Store on his device.

On Mac:

Look under your name at the bottom of the sidebar.

It should show his Apple Gift Card balance.

On iPhone or iPad:

Tap your Apple ID at the top right corner.

Then under game center, it should show his Apple credits.

If you do not see credits, ensure you are on the latest iOS, iPadOS, or MacOS.

If you are and still do not see his credits, I'd recommend calling Apple Support.

Hope this helps!
