Why does iPhone update require my password?

Why on my Iphone 12 when there is a update and i click update now it ask for my password?

During the update process, the iPhone will request for your iPhone passcode when you tap on update. This is normal procedure. You have to enter the passcode that you use to unlock your iPhone to get to the Home Screen.
