This monitor was a recommended display for mac mini. There are two usb C connections one has power the other is not powered. Dell documentation is not very helpful since I am connecting to a mac computer. For the best display Dell says the display port usb c that has power should be used. Since this connection has power will this connection damage the mac mini usb c connection?
Leave ports 4, 5, 6 & 11 unconnected and ignore the note at the bottom circled in read. Connect port 3 to the mini’s HDMI port with a cable not longer than 3 feet (1m). Connect port 8 to the mini’s USB A port using a C-A cable like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08W28GQ4P
I have a Dell P2415Q connected to my Mini M2. As far as I know the two Thunderbolt (usb C) ports are exactly the same.
I have used two different connections: Thunderbolt to DP and HDMI to HDMI. I prefer the HDMI because it keeps both Thunderbolt bolts available.
Yea’ it is not very clear, What Dell is saying and what has worked for others, is to use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable for the Video signal and a USB cable for the displays down stream USB ports.
