Apple TV to Bluetooth Speaker calibration

I have a home setup with a Apple TV 4K connected to a Epson projector over HDMI and Bluetooth speaker (JPL 2.0). I am able to hear movies fine but there is audio latency

I am trying to run the audio calibration via Apple TV settings but when I run the audio calibration, there is no sound played out of the Bluetooth speaker

What I am I missing?

Yes, I had already followed this procedure but no sound comes out of the Bluetooth speaker during calibration. Sound comes out (with slight delay / latency) with movies.

Does the calibration require there to be a wired speaker / from the TV or projector or will the calibration work with just a Bluetooth speaker connected to the Apple TV?

Hi gregdstern,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We want to help resolve the latency issue. It sounds like you're already on the right path to calibrate. Make sure you're using the steps here:

If your Apple TV is connected to a home theater receiver or TV using an HDMI cable, you may experience audio latency, a delay that sounds like an echo when playing audio on both receiver speakers and a wireless speaker.
You can use an iPhone to calibrate the audio signal on your Apple TV so that all speakers play in sync.
1. Open Settings  on Apple TV.
2. Go to Video and Audio, then scroll down to Calibration.
3. Select Wireless Audio Sync, then follow the onscreen instructions for using your iPhone to sync your speakers.

See more about those steps here: Use Apple TV to play audio throughout your home - Apple Support

Thanks.

Thanks, that is the clarity I was looking for.

Sadly, my projector doesn’t have audio out. What I am going to try to do is to buy a an audio extractor from hdmi output to enable this wired speaker for the calibration.

something like this:

J-Tech Digital 4K 60HZ HDMI Audio Extractor Converter SPDIF + 3.5MM Output Supports HDMI 2.0, 18Gpbs Bandwidth, HDCP 2.2, Dolby Digital/DTS Passthrough CEC, HDR10 [JTD18G-H5CH] https://a.co/d/0epRYd8

This should then allow the calibration to work, right?
