Apple TV does not keep my place if I stop watching an episode before it ends.

Apple TV does not keep my place when I watch part of an episode. If I decide to quit an individual episode in the middle, the next time I watch it, it goes back to the start of the episode. This forces me to fast forward every time I rejoin the episode to find out where I left off. Netflix and Prime Video always keep track of where I stopped watching. How do I fix this?
