Sound notifications not working on iPhone

My iPhone 12 mini suddenly stopped giving me audio and visual notifications on my Lock Screen. No settings were changed. Have tried all recommended fixes I could find but nothing is working.

I am missing important messages. I can receive phone calls but even they are sporadic and sometimes callers go straight to voicemail.

Husband has been sending me messages as I try everything to fix this issue but none of the messages will notify me like they used to (audio sound) I only get the audio when my phone is open. I do not have any focus or do not disturb things set up ( I would love to delete that app from my phone) I do not use schedule.

is this a result of updating to iOS 16?

I have just spent 3 hours trying to get my phone working as it did before. I am coming close to throwing it out the window into the ocean!
