Mac Studio ethernet port

My new Mac Studio with native Ethernet port has a green ’connected’ dot. The computer will not connect to the internet. Called Apple Support. After 1 1/2 hours of work we were told to take it to the Apple store.

At the store the darn thing fired right up when they hooked up the Ethernet port. Suggested we buy a new cable. I have used the cable with my Mac Air adapter and plugged into the usb-c port of the Studio and then I CAN access the internet. So the cable is good -I’m assuming. I’m an ever learning baby boomer on computers. I called Apple Support again with my information that the adapter works with the Ethernet cable. Now I have a service code to return the computer for exchange. I’m past the 14 days window of return. I would want a new Mac anyway. Any information on what I might try to make this native Ethernet port work?

Then the interface sees a remote device at the other end of the cable, and you were able to talk to your Router and obtain a good local Internet address. The connection to your Router is working.

What EXACTLY do you mean by that? what are the GROSS symptoms that lead you to write that. Be specific.

in that case, enter:

1.1.1.1 in the Address bar and press return.

If you get the CloudFlare** splash page, your Internet connection is working great, and your Domain Name Server (DNS) is not looking up alphabetic to numeric addresses at all.

**CcloudFlare is not part of the solution here, they just have THE absolute easiest-to-remember all-numeric IP address, so no DNS is required
