Using search bar in Finder after Dropbox update?
I updated my Dropbox app and now the search function on Finder no longer gets any results. How can I fix this? It's essential to my work.

Seems an oddity.
Did you try rebooting the machine...(?)
You can always Rebuild spotlight
Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

Yes, I rebooted the machine. Before the update I had made all files available offline in order to backup all my data, even knowing that I can't run Dropbox from an external hard drive.
Now when I search for anything the options are This Mac or Dropbox. I get results from This Mac but not from Dropbox, which seems odd.
In my Dropbox setting the sync is set so all folders sync with my Mac. Is this how it should be set up?
It is unclear to me what folder I should drag into the "Privacy" box.
Problem solved. Reinfecting the hard drive worked. Thanks.
