FWIW, there are other dual pane file managers such as Commander One, Path Finder, Martha, etc.
With one Finder Window open, you can only view one tab at a time. You can get around that by opening two Finder Windows with the respective different tab views in each Finder Window.
Just to add, you can drag one of the tabs into the Desktop which creates a new Finder window.
