Video brighter than photo

On my iPhone 14 Pro, when I slide from video over to photo, the picture gets darker and is not as sharp. Why is this?

Hi Decker18,

It would be our pleasure to assist.

Your iPhone 14 Pro has some advanced Camera settings that may be impacting your photos and videos. You might review the iPhone User Guide as it relates to your camera settings to see if you have some advanced settings like Action Mode Lower Light or ProRes enabled. This could be why you see changes between the two options.

The "Use Action mode" section of Record videos with your iPhone camera will show you how to disable/enable Action Mode Lower Light:

Action mode works best in bright light. If you want to use Action mode in lower light, go to Settings  > Camera > Record Video, then turn on Action Mode Lower Light. Action mode has a maximum capture resolution of 2.8K.

Record ProRes videos with your iPhone camera will explain more about the higher color fidelity and resolution when you use this setting to record videos.

To set up (or disable) ProRes, go to Settings  > Camera > Formats, then turn on Apple ProRes.

Either of these settings may explain the transition.

Best Wishes.
