Apple Mail VIP emails going to junk

I’m amazed at what I just found. My father, in my VIP list , emails have been going to junk on my iPad. Now, to be accurate, a whole bunch of what he sends is junk, and I trash it, but he’s my dad, and I don’t have this problem on my iMac. Why would this stupid program send an email to junk if it’s from a VIP and I’ve never seen it in new mail? And better yet, how might I curtail it from this action? I looked and there’s nothing in settings. Do I have to switch to google mail? Thanks in advance for help and suggestions.

Hi scotshap,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that some iCloud email from your father is being moved to your junk folder.

You can indicate that the messages aren't junk via iCloud.com by moving them to your inbox which will allow future messages to be automatically sent to your inbox. You can learn how here: Manage junk mail in Mail on iCloud.com - Apple Support

"Indicate that an email isn’t junk

  1. In Mail on iCloud.com, click the Junk folder in the Mailboxes list.
  2. Select the message or messages, then do one of the following:
    • If you selected one message: Click the Reply, Reply All, Forward button, then click Move to Inbox.
    • If you selected multiple messages: Click Mark, then click “Move to Inbox.”

Subsequent messages from the same sender are no longer automatically marked as junk."

We hope this helps you.

Take care!
