"The disk you attached was not readable by this computer"

I bought a new audiobook cd and when I try to upload it to my mac I get the following pop up...

When I click "ignore" the inserted disk does not show up anywhere on my computer (no on my desktop, not in finder, not in iTunes, etc.)

When I click "eject" it ejects the disk (unsurprisingly)

I have a 14-in 2021 MacBook Pro running on Ventura 13.0.1. The disk reader is also by mac from 2012. It works perfectly fine on all other audiobook cd's I've put in it. The audiobook cd I bought is new and has no visible damage.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.0

What are going to do...if it does not work it does not work.

All you can do is try a different (newer) CD/DVD superdrive reader and compare your results.

I will say —your old 13.0.1 was the introductory release candidate of the new Ventura back in October of 2022

The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes, security updates is macOS Ventura 13.2.1 —I would start there.

After I posted this I realized that and updated my computer. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work.

Not sure if this is important but the audiobook CD is by Brilliance Audio. I know they were having some issues with older versions of mac OS reading their CDs but that was like 3 years ago and I thought it had been fixed.
