My USB Superdrive isn't working when I plug it into my M1 iMac (via USB-A adapter or via a USB hub). I receive a notification to plug it into a USB port on the Mac.
Is there a way to remedy this or is it simply no longer compatible?

FWIW, A SuperDrive should work with a USB to USB-C adapter. It definitely won't work plugged into a hub.
Just to add, I still have a SuperDrive I purchased so long ago I can't remember. It still works with all my Macs. I use the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to plug it into my M1 MacBook Air.

Beats me. It's always needed to be plugged directly into a port.

You're welcome. I would suggest it's because there's not enough power coming from a hub but it doesn't work with powered hubs.
