Airpods won't disconnect or reset

I'm having this problem where my AirPods wouldn't play any audio even though it said they were connected. I tried to disconnect them from Bluetooth, but whenever I tried to do that, the Settings app would just freeze and they woulnd't disconnect. I tried to reset them to see if that would help, but whenever I press "forget this device", it just stays in my devices and it won't disconnect. I tried to turn off my Bluetooth, but whenever I turn it back on, it automatically says my AirPods are connected, even if they're nowhere near my device. I'm using the latest iOS and I haven't damaged my AirPods. Does anyone know what I can do for them to connect properly?
