ZIP FILES - FILES CAN'T BE FOUND

I have a MacBook Pro, using macOS Ventura, version 13.2.1. In the last couple of weeks when I download a zip file, some or all of the files in the zip won't open, a message, 'Files Can't Be Found'. This includes BMP or PDF's. That said, not every zip file I download has this issue. I've been fortunate, many vendors are willing to resent the files and resending seems to work (a couple of files did not and were sent again, and ok). I'm frustrated beyond measure because this is a new issue and I'd like to know the possible reasons behind this. I am an intensive machine embroidery hobbyist and many of the designs I purchase come as a Zip file. I know how to open the Zip file, it's after that the problems begin. Thanks for any help offered.

The Zip files contain digital machine embroidery designs. Many of these files are obtained/downloaded directly from the website they were purchased from. It's strange because I've never had issues with Zip files prior to a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if I've answered your question or not. But I've attempted to. I thank you for you taking the time to respond.

Just wasn't sure if you were receiving them through email or other methods besides a download direct from the vendor.

Definitely try using another web browser.

Are you using any browser extensions? If so, then perhaps they are interfering with the file especially if they are looking for a virus or malware.

Are you using any anti-virus apps, or cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software? If so, then uninstall them by following the developer's instructions as they are not needed on a Mac and they usually cause more problems than they solve.

If using another browser does not help, then you can try booting into Safe Mode which should prevent interference with afore mentioned types of apps, but I've been told with that this may not be as effective with Ventura due to recent changes. If Safe Mode prevents the issue, then you know that you have some third party software interfering with macOS.

You can also try creating a new macOS user account, logging out of your current user, then log into the new user account to try downloading & opening the Zip file there. If this works, then you know the issue is with some configuration of your main macOS user account so it narrows down the search for the problem.

Did you install any third party software for opening archive files or are you using the default built-in macOS options?
