Apple Watch announce distance and average pace

I currently have Apple Watch OS 9.3.1 and the Apple Fitness subscription. I am getting voice announcements just fine. The “Voice Feedback” feature is enabled in the Workout settings. However the on every unit walked, the announcement states, “Split Pace, mm:ss”. I only noticed this when walking with my wife. Her watch announces, “Distance, x kilometers, pace mm:ss per kilometer.” She does not have Apple Fitness subscription. I would like to have the distance and average pace announced on every unit in the same way. I have compared workout settings and they look to be the same between the watches. How do I set distance and average pace announcement on an Apple Watch for outdoor walks?

In the meantime, you can try this: restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
