Apple TV + is annoying slow on Apple TV 4K second Gen

Recently noted that movies and series struggle to play on apple tv + on my Apple TV 4K second gen. The app buffers for more than 1 minute and if i’m

lucky, the movie starts by it’s blurry. No such problems on Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube and Disney +. My Speedtest is 500meg up and 250meg down. My service provider tried everything but my problem persists.

I am using the Ethernet cable

i do have the Apple TV + subscription

netflix, Disney + and Amazon HD Dont have buffering and blurry picture issues on the same Apple TV.

If you haven't already, we'd recommend the following related steps to refresh the Apple TV and network:


  1. Try restarting your Wi-Fi network router. If needed, contact your Internet Provider for steps to accomplish this.
  2. Restart the Apple TV after the network: How to turn off or restart your Apple TV - Apple Support
  3. Make sure the network is set up to work with Apple devices: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support


Should the issue persist, any issues with the active Apple TV+ subscription? You'd need an active membership to see this content on the Apple TV app on your Apple TV.

To help rule out software issues causing the behavior, check for an update to tvOS.

Update your Apple TV manually
1. Go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.
2. If there's an update, select Download and Install. 
3. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update. Keep your Apple TV connected and plugged in to power until the update is complete.
After the update downloads, your Apple TV will restart, prepare the update, then install it. When the update is complete, your Apple TV will automatically restart again.


If it's running the most current software, then reach out to Apple Support directly to help investigate the behavior. They'll be best equipped to find the best resolution should the behavior persist. You can use the following link to reach out: Get Support
