Bypassed parental controls

My parental controls limiting social media usage haven’t worked since January and trying to figure out why. I still see the hours being tracked from my settings, but there’s just nothing stopping my child from going over the hours. VPN was downloaded back in November but it wasn’t to bypass these controls is that just happened in January and that VPN has been deleted since then. Any advice?

Hello Mnabes,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some questions about your parental controls not working as expected, and we'd like to help. We also see you came from the best article for this.

Have you tried removing the parental controls and adding them again, to see if this helps? This can sometimes help with the settings, and making sure everything is set up correctly.

If you've tried this, and the issue remains, try updating both devices: Update your iPhone or iPad

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Let us know if the issue remains.

Regards.
