Change country/region for Family Group

I subscribe to an Apple One Premier plan for my Family Sharing Group. Due to military, are currently living in another country. Is there a way to change country/region for everyone in my Family Sharing Group, without having to cancel subscriptions?

Hi there madeinspain,

All members of a Family Share group must be in the same country/region. If your family group needs to change regions, this will require cancelling subscriptions prior to changing your regions, and spending any remaining Apple ID balances.

Specific details and guidance on changing your country/region can be found in the Apple Support article Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support.

Cheers.

The article Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support describes how to change your Apple ID country or region, and the requirements and results of doing this.

Here are various issues and how to deal with them:

● Subscriptions

Make sure you have canceled all your subscriptions ( If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support ). Wait for any memberships, pre-orders, movie rentals, or season passes to complete. Items will still be active until their expiration date. You need to contact Apple and request any ongoing items you have be ended immediately if you do not want to wait until they expire naturally.

● Spend all your Apple ID balance

- One way to zero your balance is to add a credit or debt card as a payment method to your Apple ID and buy items just in excess of your remaining Apple ID balance. This will use up all the balance and any remainder will get charged to the card.

- Another way is to contact Apple and ask them to keep any remaining balance.

● Pending purchases and refunds

If you have pending purchases, or refunds in the process of being returned to you, you will have to wait until these clear.

● Unusual case where having a child on Family Sharing may have prevented changing countries --> Error : “Your country/region cannot be ch… - Apple Community

It wouldn't surprise me that if you wish for the entire family to change country that you would have to disband the entire family group first, then change the country on the individual accounts, then start Family Sharing again in the new country. If you have children in the group this adds yet another element of complexity.

Note that when changing country you have to end all subscriptions. If you use Apple Music you will lose playlists. I would also ensure that you have a copy of photos and media on a computer. Technically there will be a brief period when you are NOT subscribed to iCloud+, and also you will be using iCloud+ of another country. Frankly I don't know if things will transfer over but I would play it safe and assume they will not.

For items where you need to contact Apple to resolve an issue:

Click here --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

or:

Hi Lindsay, thanks for you reply. Yes, I had read that I had to cancel my subscriptions but my concern is how does that affect the service that everyone in my Family Sharing group uses? For example, and perhaps most importantly, what happens to all of the data, fotos, videos, etc. that we all have saved on iCloud? Do I then need to resubscribe to everything again from the new country/region, and if so, does all of that data automatically get transferred over?
