Apple TV no longer controlling my LG TV

Overnight, my Apple TV 4K just stopped controlling my LG TV. Everything working well the night before when I turned it off. Now the Apple TV remote will not turn TV on, or control the volume. I’ve checked the settings on the TV, nothing seems to have changed. I off/on several of the remote access controls. Also checked Apple TV settings. Toggled the remote tv access as well, but the problem persists. I’m baffled. It appears this is not unusual, but I have not seen a fix or solution. I’d really appreciate a solution to fix this.

Hi NilesW,

For your Apple TV to control your TV, the TV must support CEC and sometimes a designated HDMI port must be used to connect the two devices. Per Sleep or wake Apple TV:

"If your TV or audio/visual receiver supports HDMI-CEC, your Apple TV automatically goes to sleep when you turn off your TV or receiver and wakes up when you select its HDMI input on your TV or receiver. You can also turn your TV or receiver on or off with the Siri Remote. See Control your TV and volume with the Siri Remote."

That feature may need to be enabled on the TV itself as well as the mentioned port connections verified. Additional steps to try can be found in If you can't control your Apple TV with your home theater or universal remote under "Make sure that HDMI-CEC is on".

Regards.
