My Apple TV Remote suddenly stopped controlling volume.

My Apple TV 4K just stopped controlling the volume on my TCL Roku tv. The power on/off controls still work. The light flashes on the Apple TV box when I press the buttons but the tv doesn’t respond. I have made sure that both TCL and Apple products software is updated. The CEC setting in the the tv is enabled. I’ve tried the “learn remote” setting and nothing changed. Has anyone else had this issue?

Try restarting the remote. If your Apple TV remote isn't working - Apple Support
Else verify the volume control setting on the Apple TV box, in Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Volume Control﹥. Try ‘TV via IR’ if ‘Auto’ doesn’t work.
