File sharing doesn’t work anymore with external drive

I could not get a smb connection from my MacBook Pro (M1, Ventura 13.2.1) to my server (Mac mini from 2018 also with Ventura 13.2.1) if I try to open an external drive. Everything works fine after reboot on both machines with an internal sharing (user folder for example).

Deactivating file sharing on system preferences did not change anything. Also removing the external drive there and re-adding it.

Does anyone has an idea?

Mac mini, macOS 13.2

Hello jok1,

Please take a look at this support article that explains more about connecting your Mac to other drives & servers: Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers - Apple Support.

This page discusses Mac file sharing, which may also be helpful here: Set up file sharing on Mac - Apple Support.

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.
